A Day in the Life of Miss USA 2008:

Crystle Stewart

How would you sum up your year of reign as Miss USA 2008?
My year as Miss USA has been everything I thought it would be and more. I have had the opportunity to work with some amazing organizations like Best Buddies, Susan G. Komen, and the USO to name a few. I have traveled to Bahamas, Vietnam, Mexico, Cuba and various states around the US. I have also had the privilege to meet many wonderful citizens across the country, celebrities, diplomats, and humanitarians. This year has been the best year of my life!

What was your most memorable experience?
My most memorable experience was taking part in a tandem skydiving with the   Golden Knights in Yuma, Arizona. Not only did I jump once, but I jumped twice. I would recommend to anyone to go skydiving at some point in their life.

What advice would you give the new contestants for 2009?
I would advise the 2009 Miss USA contestants to be the best they can be. Aim for excellence not perfection. The sky has no limits!

Miss USA 2009 Pageant Returns to Planet Hollywood

The Miss Universe Organization returns to Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the celebrated annual Miss USA® telecast. The 2009 competition will air live on Sunday, April 19th, at the Theatre for the Performing Arts located at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

“Returning to Vegas was not a difficult decision to make,” said Paula M. Shugart, President of the Miss Universe Organization. “Last year’s contestants had a great time in the desert seeing many of the attractions Las Vegas offers. We can’t wait to show this year’s delegates and our viewers more of this exciting city!”

Miss USA 2008, Crystle Stewart, who was crowned at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on April 11, 2008, has been traveling the nation as an advocate for breast and ovarian cancer awareness, education, research, and legislation. She will crown her successor at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime telecast, before an estimated viewing audience, in the US alone, of over 7 million.

Each contestant from all 50 states and the District of Columbia will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown, and interview. The show will conclude with one contestant
ultimately being crowned Miss USA® 2009.

Miss Nevada

Our very own Georgina Vaughan will represent the Silver State in the upcoming Miss USA competition on April 19, 2009. Not only is she beautiful and articulate, Georgina was actually born and raised here in Las Vegas and has been competing in pageants since the age of six. Hard to believe that she just recently turned 21, already has a shoe line and recently completed an internship with Dolce and Gabanna in New York.

When asked about her future plans, “a lot depends on what happens at the pageant. But being Miss Nevada has been amazing and I just feel lucky that I have had this amazing experience. I am also the hostess of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway weekly web show and would love to eventually get into broadcasting. So I am also taking workshops focused on using the teleprompter and being in front of the camera.”

Lana Fuchs will be designing her wardrobe for the entire pageant and this will include the vibrant colors Georgina prefers. During the days leading up to the pageant she will be busy working with her director, filming segments and rehearsing because come pageant day, “I want to be 100% myself and be true and honest!”
