Inspired by such comedy greats as Red Skelton, Redd Foxx, Johnny Carson, Richard Pryor and Milton Berle, comedian George Wallace derives his comedy from every day moments of life, finding humor everywhere he turns – from the media to relationships to conversational clichés. Yet, the most important thing to him is having fun with comedy.
The funny man is everywhere in this city – from the moment you arrive at the airport you are greeted with Mr. Wallace’s smiling face on mobile billboards, advertisements, and marquees– “Best 10 PM Show,” but what they don’t tell you is when you walk into the showroom at the Flamingo, you get more than just a great night of comedy – you never know WHAT will happen
at the George Wallace I Be Thinkin’ Show.
Catapulting into his fourth year at the famous Flamingo showroom, Wallace has been performing for sold-out crowds who have come to love and appreciate the spontaneity of the show. When Wallace sees something he likes, he wants the whole world to know. Always being one to discover new talent and bring back acts whose heyday brings back memories for so many, Wallace likes to shake things up with his variety of opening acts.
On any given night, audiences might be privy to witness the musical styling of Mosaic – a six man, a cappella group discovered on a cruise ship by one of the Flamingo showroom managers.
“One of my house managers came to me and told me I just had to see this group, that they were amazing. I was so convinced that I booked them sight unseen and have asked them back time and time again,” said Wallace.
In addition to Mosaic, comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld (Wallace’s best friend), Chris Tucker and Jimmy J.J. Walker have all stopped by and performed as a special guest in the “Best 10 PM Show.” Gospel goddess Yolanda Adams also stops in for the occasional performance. Recently, Wallace pulled off what most considered impossible and welcomed a performance by Sly and The Family Stone – Sly Stone’s first performance with the band in more than 20 years! You just never know what can truly happen – not only can you be surprised by who walks onto the stage, but the person walking on the stage might be you on your way to pick up a great prize!
That’s right, last year Wallace added a new element to his show which finds audience members winning anything and everything from designer handbags, cash, diamonds…even batteries. Yes folks, batteries…don’t ask! Wallace even had the pleasure of giving away a cool million dollars last year. You just never know what will happen to you. So as George always says…Remember, something good is going to happen to you whether you like it or not. |
