Expansion in Las Vegas is booming and McCarran International Airport is one of the front-runners with their newly opened car rental facility. The concept of the new facility is to relocate existing rental car stations to a site outside of the main airport. The main benefit is to alleviate congestion in the airport as well as direct access to area roadways for rental car patrons.
The 79.2-acre site is located just off the Las Vegas Strip approximately three miles from McCarran International Airport. This massive project consists of a three-story cast-in-place parking garage capable of storing 6,000 cars, a two-story structural steel customer service building housing 10 rental car companies, and three quick turnaround areas with fuel and service islands as well as two-story light maintenance facilities.
The 125-pump gasoline facility will reportedly be the largest gas station west of the Mississippi. Forty 15-passenger buses will shuttle rental-car customers along the 2.3-mile trip between the complex and the airport, taking an estimated 5 minutes. The rental-car counters at the airport will be replaced with additional baggage carousels. |
