Mt. Charleston
For a relaxing retreat from the fast paced environment of the Las Vegas Strip, head over to
Mt. Charleston. Approximately 39 miles northwest of Las Vegas, it’s Nevada’s eighth highest mountain peak and is part of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest
Mt. Charleston is a great year-round destination. In the winter, the perfectly manicured ski trails attract visitors from all over, looking for a chance to see a little snow in the midst of the desert. In the warmer summer months, hiking and camping are the most popular activities.
There’s over 50 miles of designated trails along the mountain, complete with breathtaking scenery. There are several paved trails that are handicap accessible. Some trails are more physically challenging than others. For those looking for a little adventure, try one of the
more difficult climbs to the top of the mountain. Seven different campgrounds featuring close to
200 campsites complete with picnic areas makes for a perfect little weekend getaway. |
