Daring Duo
Let’s get this straight. Penn is the tall one who talks. Teller talks, just not on stage. Penn likes to tell stories to go with the illusions. Teller is a master magician. Together, the dynamic duo claims fewer audience injuries this year in their eponymous show at the Rio.
First, a few rules of magic. You never tell your audience how a trick is done; Penn and Teller do. Don’t show the audience the preparation for a trick; Penn and Teller do. And most certainly never perform the classic cups and balls trick with clear cups. They do, and you still won’t figure it out.
Their suave moves end with a bang during the magic bullet trick, where the duo shoot bullets at each other and catch them in their mouths with real guns, bullets and audience members watching every step of the process.
Be sure to get to the show early. The Mike Jones Duo performs live music as the audience filters in and signs a paper used later in the show. The mysterious upright bass player might look familiar.
